I'm very excited to launch the series of Altar Icons // Devotional altar artworks today! Six months in the making -- these were originally basic concept images for wood carvings but they developed into something else. And I couldn't be happier! A process which began by creating bold silhouettes from reference images to line-work, detailing and digital painting techniques in photoshop and then into texturing and fine detail, it was hard work but a real joy.  So I'm so proud to present Hekate, Jupiter, Isis, Mercury / Hermes and Saint Cyprian of Antioch. They're printed in really tactile heavy 295gsm...

So here's something a bit different -- I've spent the weekend finishing off the designs for a series of altar icons...⁣⁣⁣I'd started by blocking out the silhouettes in photoshop to get the form and flow right. Now I'm adding the details and consulting a load of reference material as I go. A series of five pieces - they were originally planned as concept sketches for future wood carvings but they seem to have taken on a life of their own...⁣⁣

I've been busy working on new things here in the workshop over the past few weeks. A new Hermes / Mercury altar piece has just been completed and available now for commission in the store. I've also started working on a new project: I wanted to make something completely different and designed an entire series of carvings for spirit work. They're designed as 'spirit-vessels' or 'spirit-houses' and / or as a material base for servitor work. I've got about 8 designs I'm working on and here's the rough carve in solid oak of the first one. A lot of work still...

Another little work-in-progress peek at one in a set of four Kerubic temple plaques I've been working on over the Summer. Roughing out the details in oak based upon line illustrations I drew for each of the Kerubim angels in its quarter. Just a quick post here as I'm caught up in the creative flow and working on a whole range of new pieces.  I'm going to change how I work a little bit too -- as well as having a catalogue of pieces that I make on commission to order, I'm also going to make more one-off pieces that will be ready to purchase.
