Large tablet carved in solid walnut. 1.5 kg in weight, approx 39cm tall, 29cm wide and approximately 2cm thick.
A detailed carved hardwood tablet, depicting HERMES TRISMEGISTUS from a woodcut in Zadith Ben Hamuel's treatise De Chemica Senioris (Strasbourg, 1566). Seated here upon his stone seat, a solid foundation, Hermes Trismegistus displays a book within which the symbols of the Hermetic sciences are displayed.
This example is carved and hand-finished from a piece of solid walnut hardwood. It is then waxed and polished. There is a carved / recessed panel on the back which houses a hanging fixture for wall hanging.
